Ioana is a strategic, inclusive and caring leader with a unique ability to achieve lasting results by connecting hearts and minds with an ambitious purpose: safe care.
Some of Ioana’s accomplishments in patient safety and patient engagement include: transforming Patients for Patient Safety Canada from a community of patients to a globally recognized patient group, achieving and maintaining the former Canadian Patient Safety Institute’s (CPSI’s) designation as a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre in Patient Safety and Patient Engagement, leading and co-authoring core patient safety resources, including Engaging Patients in Patient Safety – a Canadian Guide, Patient Safety and Incident Management Toolkit, the Canadian Incident Analysis Framework, and the Safe Surgery Saves Lives program.
Ioana’s experience is founded on more than a decade of front-line nursing in a university hospital coupled with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alberta. Her 15 years as a senior program manager and director, safety strategies and programs helped her become a recognized leader in patient safety.
Curiosity is the key driver of her life and career. She is fascinated by nature and human nature, complex ecosystems and situations. Her motto is “diversity is strength.”
