Pauline Warden
Pauline Warden is a Clinical Quality and Safety Leader at Lakeridge Health; a health system and hospital network that serves the Durham Region of Ontario. She brings over 35 years of clinical and administrative experience in cancer care and acute care settings; working in both the United Kingdom and Canadian healthcare systems.
A Radiation Therapist by profession; she holds a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Quality from Queens University and in addition to her significant quality and safety experience, she holds a Lean green belt and a Specialist Certificate in the Fundamentals of External Evaluation Surveying from ISQua.
One of her greatest strengths is her passion and aptitude for systems thinking. Her ability to apply an accomplished human factors perspective to all encounters makes for a holistic understanding of the processes and structures that surround and influence patients, providers and support teams.
Pauline believes that everyone has the potential to lead quality improvement and in doing so, improve safety for those served by the health system. She is skilled at cultivating teams to develop authentic partnerships with patients and families in the pursuit of excellence. In addition to her ability to put people at ease, she treats every interaction as an opportunity to empower and create new safety leaders at all levels and in all contexts through coaching, celebration and learning. Safety for patients and their partners in care is a guiding principle that underpins all of the work that Pauline does!
Pauline is a member of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) and serves as one of a group of expert patient safety coaches on the Canadian Patient Safety Program; delivered by CHA Learning. She is a surveyor with Accreditation Canada, and in this role, contributes to the broader Canadian healthcare system though peer assessments and mentorship.
